Shillong, Sep 22: Group D of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2023 saw provisional first place be traded between Risa Colony SC and Mawkriah West SC before the latter reclaimed it at the end of the day.
Five matches were held yesterday at Third Ground, Polo, here, with Group D seeing three games. There was also one each in Groups A and C.
The action began in Group C with Riatsamthiah SC winning their first game in six tries this season, with a 3-0 result in their favour over Pynthorbah SC. The goals were scored by Dingbarous Nongsiej (16′, 41′) and Jerry Donboklang Kharkongor (45′). Riatsamthiah are fifth in the group with 5 points now, one point and one position behind Pynthorbah.
In Group A was a big contest between Madan SCC and Umrynjah SC but this meeting of the top two sides ended in a 0-0 draw. They now have 19 and 13 points respectively. This was also Madan SCC’s last group fixture and they will progress to the knockouts as the top team from the group no matter what else happens in the remaining matches.
It was also goalless in the first of the Group D matches, played between Laitkroh SC and Mawnianglah Youth SC.
Later, Risa Colony took the lead in the group with a 2-1 win over Diengpasoh SC. Nonistar Swer (4′) and Riklansing Warmalai (35′) scored for Risa Colony and Apbhalang Marboh (24′) for Diengpasoh.
However, Risa Colony’s lead did not last long as Mawkriah West won the last game of the day 2-1 against Pommura SC. Leverence Jeremny Nongbri (26′) and Waricky Shabong (37′) scored for the winners, with Apporlang Mawthoh (60′) doing so for Pommura.
Mawkriah West now have 11 points and Risa Colony 9. Pommura and Laitkroh both have 7 points and have yet to meet, giving Pommura third place on goal difference (+2 to -7). Mawnianglah and Mawlyngngad SC are then tied on 6 points each, again without having met, so Mawlyngngad have fifth place right now on goal difference (+1 to -2). Diengpasoh are at the bottom with 4 points.
