Shillong, Sep 28: Mawkasiang SC booked their place in the quarterfinals of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2023 from Group B after winning their last round robin fixture 2-1 against Nongkolew SC at Third Ground, Polo, here today.
Prior to today, Mawkasiang and Nongkolew were the only teams still capable of joining Kharang SC in the quarterfinals from this group.
Late in the first half of the 70-minute match today, Vickyson Kharumnuid (33′) scored first for Mawkasiang. Pynshai Kharwanniang (36′) then equalised on the other side of the break with his fourth goal of the season before Bankupar Kharumnuid (48′) restored the lead and Mawkasiang held on for the win.
