The following is based on a press release from the Meghalaya Golf Promoters Society

Shillong, Jan 19: Golf at the 5th Meghalaya Games was conducted by the Meghalaya Golf Promoters Society and Tura Golfers Association in association with the Meghalaya State Olympic Association, Border Security Force and state government at the Durama Golf Course on the BSF campus on 16th and 17th January.

It was held  on a strokeplay format over 36 holes. The event was managed by a TARS-certified international referee and a Level 2 Rules Official.

The inaugural tee off was done by cabinet minister AL Hek, who is also the Chief Advisor of the MGPS.

The medal ceremony was graced by James Sangma, Chairman of MIDC and Chief Patron of the MGPS.

A ‘Learn to Play Golf’ programme was also organised on 16th January for juniors from nearby villages. MGPS donated a few golf clubs and range balls to the Tura Golfers Association to promote golf in Garo Hills.
