Shillong, Jan 22: The Meghalaya Athletics Association held its annual general meeting in Tura this year – for the first time ever – and elected office bearers for the 2024-28 period.
The meeting and election was held on 18th January during the 5th Meghalaya Games in Tura.
All affiliated districts were present in the meeting. The activities of the association and the audited accounts was presented and accepted by the members.
The main discussion, according to Secretary Finely Pariat, was how to improve athletics and to participate in the National Inter District Junior Athletics Meet, which is held every year to promote young athletes.
The meeting was presided over by EMH Passah, Senior Vice-President of the MAA, while NA Mhonso Ngullie served as Observe from the Athletics Federation of India and P Passah from the Meghalaya State Olympic Association was the Presiding Officer overseeing the election.
The election was a foregone conclusion, however, as all the posts were contested by only one person each.
