Shillong, Aug 25: Madan SCC held off a late charge by Umrynjah SC to win the final of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2024 2-1 at First Ground, Polo, here yesterday.
Jason T Malsamtluanga (41′) put Madan SCC into the lead just before half time and Phermanbha Lyngdoh (48′) doubled the lead on the other side of the break.
Samborlang Jyrwa (63′) pulled one back for Umrynjah later on and that gave his side around half an hour to find the equaliser but they couldn’t quite manage it.
There were plenty of SSA officials present at the ground for the final, led by the asssociation’s President, Banteidor Lyngdoh, who presented the winners with a trophy and cheque for Rs 60,000. The runners-up received Rs 30,000.
The next matches in the SSA calendar are those in the ongoing Third Division. Two matches are scheduled for Tuesday – Nongmensong SC versus Pomlakrai SC at 12:45PM in Group A and Lumparing SC against Mawpat SC at 3:45PM in Group B. Both matches will be at First Ground.
