Shillong, Aug 28: There were massive wins for Iaityllilang SC and Umpling SC in the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2024 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Iaityllilang defeated Krang SC 6-1 in Group B before Umpling won their third in a row, this time against Lumdiengjri SC 5-1 in Group C.
Elewell Kurbah scored what was only the second hat-trick of the Third Division 2024 with goals in the 42nd, 55th and 85th minutes for Iaityllilang. Joinborlang Kharumnuid (52′, 86′) and Melawantei Kharmuti (90’+2) were the team’s other scorers. Krang, meanwhile, scored through Herly Nongbri (58′).
Incidentally, Krang have lost all three matches by five-goal margins (5-0 to Lumparing SC, 7-2 to Umlyngka SC and now 6-1). After two draws, Iaityllilang now have 5 points thanks to today’s win and they lead the Group B table, though Umlyngka and Mawpat SC (both 4 points) have a game in hand.
Later, Umpling won their third game on the trot for a full 9 points possible. One goal each was scored by Mebankitdor Nongkynrih (42′), Lalremuaia Rynthlei (57′), Augustar Nongbri (59′), Jonas Nongbri (62′) and Henry Suting (85′). Lumdiengjri’s lone goal was by Wanshan Khonglam (65′).
