Shillong, Nov 30: Thangskai Tigers FC and Rymbai Iawpynsing SC won their respective matches in the East Jaintia Hills District Football Association’s Super Division 2024 by big margins in Khliehriat today.
The Tigers first beat Ladrymbai B SC 4-1 before R Iawpynsing blitzed Khliehriat West YWSC 5-0.
Thangskai Tigers scored all four of their goals in the first half via Dukijuh Rymbai (17′), Pynthymme Rymbai (30’P) and Ruki Syrti (33′, 39′). Ladrymbai’s lone response was in the second half through a Laxman Lamare penalty (61’P).
Later, after a goalless first half, the floodgates were opened by R Iawpynsing, with all five goals coming in the last half an hour. The scorers were Hesmiki Rymbai (60′), Slader Nongtdu (64′) and hat-trick provider Kiming Dkhar (67′, 71′, 90’+1).
Defeat means that Khliehriat West cannot escape the relegation zone and they will drop down to the First Division next season.
The fight for the playoffs is intense, with five clubs in contention going into the last round of the league stage – Dhana CSC (12 points), Thangskai Tigers (12), Sutnga SSCC (12), Rymbai Shkenshynriah SC (10) and Chiehruphi SYWSC (10).
R Iawpynsing (5) and Ladrymbai B (4) are also fighting to avoid joining Khliehriat West in the relegation zone.
