Shillong, Jan 10: Under pressure Shillong Lajong FC picked up 3 points in a 1-0 win against Real Kashmir FC in I-League 2024-25 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here this evening.

Aman Ahlawat produced the only goal of the game in the 34th minute. It was the defender’s first I-League goal in only his second match at this competition.

This was the first match of Lajong’s in the New Year and coach Jose Carlos Rodriguez Hevia made several changes to the team that lost in the last outing at Delhi FC. In came Manas Dubey in goal, Aman, Saveme Tariang, Kenstar Kharshong, Gladdy Kharbuli and Figo Syndai and out went Ranit Sarkar (GK), Ronney Kharbudon, Daniel Goncalves, Batskhemlang Thangkhiew, Imanol Arana Sadaba, Marcos Rudwere Genar Silva.

This meant that only one foreigner in the staring line-up, Douglas Tardin.

The victory was Lajong’s second of the season and takes them to 9 points and seventh place; they have also drawn three games and lost two. Before today SLFC were in 10th position.

The visitors would have been third had they won but, instead, they remain on 9 points.

With this welcome win in their back pocket, Lajong will next welcome SC Bengaluru on 13th January at 4:30PM.
