Shillong, Jan 16: Samuel L Kynshi has been loaned to Rajasthan United FC by Indian Super League side Punjab FC, it was announced yesterday.
Samuel hasn’t been seen in action in this season of the ISL, though he has been an unused substitute in four games. Contrast that with the case of fellow Meghalayan Ricky John Shabong, who has played in all 14 of Punjab’s matches.
Seeing as he doesn’t seem to fit into the plans of coach Panagiotis Dilmperis at the moment, it makes sense for Samuel to get a loan spell and some match practice at Rajasthan, even if it is a bit of a climb down to return to the I-League.
Perhaps best known to local football fans for being the team that got absolutely destroyed by Shillong Lajong FC 8-0 last month, Rajasthan have not done too badly otherwise and are sixth in the table. Punjab, for that matter, are currently ninth in the ISL standings.
While at Rajasthan (the loan is until the end of May), Samuel will be in the company of two former Lajong team mates, Novin Gurung and Pritam Kumar Singh.
Samuel’s last stint in the I-League was a hugely positive one personally – he capped a three-year spell with Real Kashmir with a neat tally of six goals after playing in all but one of the club’s 22 matches.
