Shillong, Feb 14: Hurdles Mawsynram and Pomshutia CC both won their respective matches in the 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, in Sohra today.
Both sides won by batting second, with Hurdles defeating Sportopia CC by six wickets, while Pomshutia swatted away Lumpaia Avengers by eight wickets.
Sportopia won the toss and batted first. Jedilbert Swer top-scored with 32 from 28 deliveries as his side posted 141/8 in 20 overs. Sando B Rapsang took 2/8 in 4 overs for the fielding side.
In reply, Hurdles hit the required runs for the loss of four wickets in 17.4 overs, led by Sandy Kharshandy’s (pictured left) peerless innings of 61 from 28 balls. He was subsequently named Player of the Match.
Later, Lumpaia Avengers also batted first after winning the toss and also made 141 runs but for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs. Ibanaibor Lyngdoh struck 35 from 19 and Mankhraw Ryngksai bagged 3/34 in 4 overs.
Pomshutia then reached 142/2 in 18 overs, with a monumental century by Maitshaphrang Khongjee (pictured right) of 110 runs from just 60 balls. He was then named Player of the Match.
