Shillong, Mar 26: The second edition of the Indo-French Football Tournament 2025 kicked off in Paris with an unforgettable opening match, as the Meghalaya team (represented by the U-17 boys from Myngken Christian Higher Secondary School) delivered a breathtaking performance against US Grigny FC, securing a dominant 4-0 victory.

Myngken Christian were chosen for this tournament after finishing as runners-up in last year’s Subroto Cup.

The match, held at Grigny Stade, saw a high level of play from the Indian team, led by coach Bobby L Nongbet, leaving the French side and spectators in complete awe. The French team, known for its strong gameplay, were not expecting such a competitive level from the Indian squad but the Meghalaya players showcased exceptional skill, speed and tactical precision.

The 4-0 scoreline is not just a victory for the team but a huge moment for Indian football on international soil. This performance proved that Indian teams can compete at a high level against well-established European clubs. The energy, teamwork, and resilience shown by the Meghalaya team have set the tone for the tournament, a press release stated.

Fresh off this commanding victory, the Meghalaya team is now fully focused on their next match against Versailles FC. Versailles FC is known to be one of the strongest clubs in France, making this an exciting battle to watch.
