Shillong, Jun 25: Golflink became the first team to qualify for the second round of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2025 after they beat Mawshbuit 1-0 in Group A at the SSA Stadium at First Ground here today.
The day’s other results first saw Summit Football Academy defeat Dilingiem 1-0 in Group C, while Laitkroh and Risa Colony played out a 2-2 draw in Group A.
Golflink have now won all three of their matches and with 9 points they are guaranteed to finish in the Top 2 of Group A, thereby earning them a place in the second round. Their lone goal today was provided by Ribansan Wahlang (39′) towards the end of the first half of the 80-minute match.
Later, Laitkroh held the lead twice thanks to Bankhrawlang Myrthong (13′) and Rishailang Myrthong (67′) but each time Risa Colony were able to find an equaliser and the match ended with the two sides splitting points. Seiboklang Mawrie (40’+1, 73′) were the scorer on both occasions for Risa Colony.
The morning fixture brought victory to Summit FA thanks to a 22nd minute goal by Nicky Mawthoh. Summit had lost their previous two encounters and needed a win to take them off the bottom of the Group C standings.
