Shillong, Sep 2: Mylliem Lum stormed to a 7-2 victory against Lumshyiap in Group A of the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2025 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here today.
The other match saw Sohiong hold off Umphrup 3-2 in Group C.
Despite the scoreline, the first match was actually pretty even in the first half, with Mylliem Lum leading 3-2 at half time. However, a four-goal flurry in the second half saw them carry the game convincingly.
Shaiborlang Kharkrang (7′, 26′, 80′, 88′) scored twice in each half for the first hat-trick of the Second Division 2025. His team mates Arbunsing Warjri (1′), Eliastar Nongsiej (50′) and Lamborsing S Nongdhar (75′) added one each. Firstborn Iawphniaw (17′) and Doublestar Sanglein (44′) were Lumshyiap’s scorers.
Later, Sohiong grabbed their first win of the season after two defeats. Umphrup were always chasing, having conceded to Wanlambok Thabah (16′) before pulling level through Wanpyniar Nongbri (18′). Sohiong then retook the lead via Bankwis Malngiang (41′) and held it until Shariwell Lyngdoh (77′) equalised. Sohiong then went in front for a third time thanks to Billan Rapsang (81′) four minutes later.
