Shillong, Oct 11: Mylliem secured a valuable 1-0 victory against a limp Nangkiew Irat in their Shillong Premier League 2025 match at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here this evening.
Alem Khongwir scored the only goal of the game in the 20th minute.

Victory moved Mylliem, now with 11 points, from the edge of the relegation zone into the relative safety of fifth place, though they need to keep an eye on what happens to other teams in the remaining matches. Nangkiew Irat, after such a strong start to the season where they looked like contenders for the SPL 2025 title, are now no longer mathematically capable of finishing on top. They remain in fourth position with 13 points.
Nangkiew Irat were missing a few key players through suspension, injury or other reasons, such as their top scorer Himanshu Patil, Khangmiki Pale and first choice goalkeeper Surjay Kumar Pariyar. Mylliem, on the other hand, were at full strength barring the absence of Shaibor Nongrum.
Wanshanlang Dkhar had the perfect opportunity to put Mylliem in the lead in the 19th minute but sent his shot soaring over the crossbar from point blank range.
Nevertheless, he made up for that just a minute later with a fine cross from the left flank that Alem only had to tap in for what proved to be the sole goal of the contest. The formidable striker is now joint second with 6 goals in the race to be top scorer, tied with Himanshu and Shillong Lajong’s Emanbha Marbaniang and behind only Mawlai’s Loving Suting, who has 7.
Nangkiew Irat had plenty of possession in both halves of the match but appeared not to know what to do with the ball when they had it. Even on the few promising occasions when they could have threatened they failed to execute well.
Nangkiew Irat have one game to go, against Lajong in the season-ender, while Mylliem take on Rangdajied United in their last match.
On Monday, Nongrim Hills, who are confirmed to finish in the relegation zone, will take on second-placed Lajong at 4:30PM. A win would give back first place to defending champions Lajong.
