Shillong, Mar 24: Royal CC and Rhinoland Cricket Academy won their respective matches in the 1st Late PA Sangma Memorial T20 Tournament, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, here today.

Royal CC defeated Winds CC by six wickets in Group D and Rhinoland were 40-run victors against Sputnik Spartan in a rain-affected Group B encounter.

Winds won the toss in their match and batted first. Aditya Mahala produced 67* in 53 balls but Winds were limited to 129/8 in 20 overs. Reshabh Dipak took 3/16 in 4 overs.

Royal CC needed just 11.4 overs to chase down the total, losing four wickets along the way. Raj Biswa struck 57 from 27 balls and Pringsang Sangma 32 from 20. Akash K Choudhury bagged 3/38 in 4 overs. Reshabh was named Player of the Match.

The other game also saw Rhinoland bat first after winning the toss. They made a much more competitive first innings score of 188/8 in 20 overs, with Arun Sonar (47 from 36 deliveries) and Sumit Kashyap (39 from 18) the most successful batters. For the bowling side, Uttam Chanda snatched 4/37 in 3 expensive overs.

When it came time for them to bat, Sputnik Spartan were behind the required run rate when rain curtailed the match. Sputnik Spartan had reached 120/7 in 16 overs when the game was called off. Dilwar Khan produced 49 from 36 balls, while Tapan Kumar Sharma claimed 4/19 in 3 overs and Chirantan (no surname provided) bagged 3/20 in 4. With seven wickets down, Sputnik Spartan needed to be on 161 in 16 overs and Rhinoland were thus winners by 40 runs according to the DLS method. Tapan was declared Player of the Match.
