Shillong, Feb 5: Jaskirat Singh Sachdeva (pictured) hit an unbeaten 74 on the first day of Meghalaya’s U-25 Col CK Nayudu Trophy Group E match against Odisha today.
Put into bat after losing the toss, Meghalaya were all out for a commendable 201 while Odisha replied to that with 96/5 at stumps, still trailing by 105 runs.
Meghalaya were reduced to 41/3 when Sachdeva joined Kevin Christopher at the crease. They put on 56 for the fourth wicket in exactly 13 overs before Christopher fell for a well-made 34.
Sachdeva kept going, hitting 12 fours and a six in his innings of 122 deliveries. He had a bit of support from Manish Sharma (16) and Ram Gurung (13) but Meghalaya still lost their last seven wickets for 104 runs and Sachdeva was stranded on 74 not out.
In Odisha’s first innings, PM Santhosh dismissed one of the openers in his first over and ended the day with figures of 1/26.
Ram Gurung (3/37) then scalped three wickets but Odisha found some resistance in Gaurav Choudhary, who made 41 before he was dismissed by Mickey Marngar (1/21).
