Shillong, Feb 7: Meghalaya Police defeated Ehrngiew FC 2-0 in the first semifinal of the 1st Invitational Football Knockout Tournament 2024-2025, organised by the Seng Samla Mawmluh Smit, yesterday.
Everesterly Rynjah scored the first goal in the 23rd minute and Pynshai Lyngkhoi the second in the 53rd.
MLP dominated the game from the first half but Ehrngiew tried to fight back in the second session. They threw everything they could at breaking through the defences of the police but MLP goalkeeper Basuklang Nongsiej was the hero by making several difficult saves right until the final whistle.
Basuklang was named Player of the Match and received his award from the President of the Seng Samla Mawmluh, Smit, Rilestar Suting.
The second semifinal is scheduled for 14th February between Nongtraw Wahlong FC and YBSC Shella.
