Shillong, Jun 20: Defending champions Langsning had to share spoils with Nongrim Hills, but Nongkrem celebrated a 2-1 win over Laban in the U-18 Shillong Premier League here today.

At the JN Stadium Biketstar Nongkhlaw spotted an opening and took a long-range shot that beat Nongrim Hills goalkeeper Brilliant Thabah in just the third minute, but P Nongkhlaw found the equaliser in the 36th minute. Both sides struggled for the winner but full time ended 1-1 and the sheer exhaustion was all too evident with the players from both teams collapsing onto the turf.

Meanwhile, in the other day’s fixture, Nongkrem won 2-1 at Third Ground. Nongkrem took the lead in the 15th minute through Kenny Warshong. Laban equalised through A Khongsngi 20 minutes later and Nongkrem bagged the winner in the 64th minute with a goal by Wan Mawthoh.

Laban had a perfect opportunity to score another when they were awarded a penalty kick. Dasaki Challam had to take it twice, scoring off the first time but this was disallowed and his second kick was blocked by Nongkrem’s goalie.

Tomorrow Marbisu are scheduled to take on Mawkhar at Third Ground, while Lawsohtun are scheduled to face Ryntih at the JN Stadium. Both games will begin at 3:45PM.
