Shillong, Jul 29: Two schools each from West Khasi Hills and East Khasi Hills along with one each from West Jaintia Hills and Ri-Bhoi reached the finals of the State Level Subroto Cup football tournament here today.
The finals of the three categories will take place tomorrow at the Sports Authority of India Centre in NEHU.
Today, in the U-14 boys’ semifinals, Roman Catholic Evening SS (WJH) came through against Little Star English Medium SS (Eastern West Khasi Hills) 5-3 in a tiebreaker before New Nongstoin SS (WKH) edged Jakrem Presbyterian HSS (South West Khasi Hills) 1-0.
In the U-17 girls’ category, Iewrynghep SS (EKH) cruised past Dapboklang Giri Memorial SS (WKH) 3-0 thanks to a hat-trick from Inrila-I-Dor Khongthaw. Sati Raja Memorial SS (Ri-Bhoi) then beat North Liberty HSS (WJH) 1-0.
In the U-17 boys’ playoffs, Sibsingh Memorial Government HSS (WKH) blanked Wapung HSS (East Jaintia Hills) 2-0 before St Anthony’s HSS (EKH) win 5-3 in another tiebreaker against Umdihar SS (Ri-Bhoi).
