Shillong, Feb 11: Assam Regimental Centre won the first leg of their semifinal match 2-1 against Ri-Bhoi United in the Invitation Knock Out Football Tournament 2022-23 match at New Nongstoin today.
All three goals of the game came in the second half.
H Naoba Meitei produced a rapid brace in the 52nd and 54th minutes for ARC before Damanbha Chyne (62′) pulled one back for Ri-Bhoi United.
For his excellent performance between the sticks, Assam Regiment goalkeeper A Romio (pictured) was named Player of the Match.
Their hopes aren’t dashed, however, as the two sides will meet in the second leg next month in a match that RBU must win.
The second leg of the first semifinal, between Lamare FC and United SC of Kolkata, will take place on 3rd March. Lamare had won the first meeting 1-0 on 3rd February.
