Shillong, Feb 20: Laitjem CC and Cricket Lovers Sohra won their respective matches on the eighth day of the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association’s 2nd District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2023 today.
In the first match, Friends United CC won the toss and made Laitjem bat first, with the latter going at more than 8 runs an over to post 167/5 in 20 overs. Poilangson Thawmuit (37) and Mebanshan Kharsati (28) were two of the more successful batters, while Nangkiewkor Moore Don took 2/20.
In reply, Friends United were bowled out for 86 in 15.4 overs. Ernestin Kyntiewbor Swer top-scored with 22, made off only 11 deliveries, while Anthony Pathaw bagged 3/14 and Kharsati 3/16. It was the latter who was adjudged Player of the Match for his all-round effort.
Later, Sohra Combine CC won the toss and batted first against Cricket Lovers but were restricted to 80/6 in 15 overs. Donkyrmenlang Nadon struck 30 from 20 balls, while Rohit Yadav claimed 3/26.
The match was further reduced in the second innings. Cricket Lovers had managed 54/1 in 9 overs when a further interruption ended the game early. The target according to the DLS method was only 24, giving Cricket Lovers victory by 34 runs. Yadav hit 19 and was named Player of the Match. Darius Ranee (1/19) took the only wicket to fall.
