Shillong, Feb 20: Lawsohtun SC finished their campaign in the Shillong Sports Association’s First Division 2023 with a 4-2 win over Umphyrnai SC at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Joinbor Nongspung (9′, 67′) and Rangdajied Rynjah (65′, 79′) scored a brace each for the eventual winners, while Umphyrnai found the back of the net once in each half through Ridingstar Kharkongor (37′) and Damanglang Kharbangar (77′).
Victory takes Lawsohtun to third place in the standings but they could lose their grip on that after tomorrow’s match between Malki SC and Mylliem SC. Whoever wins that match would take third place as both sides have beaten Lawsohtun and thus have head-to-head advantage.
Umphyrnai, meanwhile, were already guaranteed of finishing in the drop zone before today’s fixture and they end sixth with 3 points thanks to a solitary win over Mawkhar SC.
Tomorrow’s match between Malki and Mylliem will take place at 2:45PM.
