Shillong, Mar 18: Cricket Lovers CC and Thangsning CC won their respective matches in the 3rd East Khasi Hills Cricket Association District League in Smit today.
While Cricket Lovers defeated Marbisu CC by 66 runs, Thangsning were five-wicket winners over Mawryngkneng CC.
In the first match, Marbisu fielded first after winning the toss but Cricket Lovers were able to post a formidable total of 147/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Rohit Yadav top-scored with 49 made from just 34 deliveries, while team mate Winningstar Khongjoh hit 33 from 28. Richard Collin Diengdoh grabbed 2/27 for the best figures.
Marbisu were then bowled out for just 81 in 18.5 overs, with Mehrah Hussain Sarkar (pictured right) claiming 4/7 in 3.5 overs, which also gave him the Player of the Match award.
Later, Mawryngkneng batted first after winning the toss and struck a run a ball to finish on 120/4, with Pyntngenlang Kharsahnoh making 44 from 66 balls and Lamhok Tiewsoh 35 from 28. Khrawkupar Kharumnuid (pictured left) managed 3/17 in 4 overs.
The total, though, was just a tad too small and Thangsning secured victory in 19.2 overs for the loss of five wickets. As he did with the ball, so Khrawkupar did with the bat and his 27 from 29 was the top score and he was subsequently named Player of the Match.
