Shillong, Mar 25: Cricket Smit CC and Pomshutia CC won their respective matches in the 3rd East Khasi Hills Cricket Association District League in Smit today.
Cricket Smit were three-wicket winners against Mawphlang CC, while Pomshutia defeated Mawryngkneng CC by four wickets.
In the first match, Mawphlang chose to bat first after winning the toss but were restricted to only 107/6 in 20 overs, with a top score of 28 from 42 deliveries by Pynshongdor (last name not provided).
In reply, Cricket Smit chased down the target for the loss of seven wickets in 16.3 overs. Pynkhrawbok Thabah (pictured right), the eventual Player of the Match, hit a run-a-ball 25, while Mawlynnai Wahlang scalped 3/20 in 4 overs.
Later, Pomshutia won the toss and put their opponents in to bat first, with Mawryngkneng bundled out for 76 in 15.3 overs. Pyntngenlang Kharsahnoh managed 19 from 29 balls but the bowling was the highlight and Shembhalang Pyngrope (3/8 in 3 overs) and Aristerwell Suting (3/9 in 2.3) were the most devastating with the ball.
The chase saw Pomshutia lose their way a little but still get to the target in 17.5 overs. Shemphang Tymsen led with 19 from 40 balls, whiel Guiding Star Kharsati (3/13 in 4 overs) did what he could for Mawryngkneng. Aristerwell (pictured left) was declared Player of the Match.
