Shillong, Aug 22: Mawkriah West SC conceded in the first half but stormed back in the second to defeat Lumdiengjri SC 5-1 in Group C of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2024 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
The other match of the day, in Group D, saw Rynjah SC and Mawshbuit SC play out a 2-2 draw.
Desilva Pyngrope (44′) gave the lead to Lumdiengjri but a string of goals in the second half saw Mawkriah West take the contest convincingly through goals by Jeremy Nongbri (58′), Ronald Lyngdoh (66′), Honour Nongbri (73′), Hosterfield Kharbudnah (88′) and Sainkupar Sun (90’+1).
This was Mawkriah West’s first win and Lumdiengjri’s second defeat of the season. It was also the first win from behind in the Third Division 2024.
Later, Group D saw its third consecutive draw – no match in this group has yet given a winner (or loser).
In two contrasting halves, Lalduhawna (19′) and Paosagun Khongsai (22′) put Rynjah ahead by 2-0 in the first 45 minutes before Lushai Wankhar (48′) and Jayden Langstang (66′) scored for Mawshbuit to bring the two sides level again.
This was Rynjah’s first match, while Mawshbuit had also drawn 2-2 with Lamlynti SC on 9th August.
Tomorrow, Tynring SC will face Lamlynti at 12:45PM before Kharang SC take on Mawryngkneng SC at 3:45PM in Group A.
