Shillong, Sep 11: Mawryngkneng SC and Pomlakrai SC won their respective matches in Group A of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2024 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Both sides won by one goal margins, with Mawryngkneng securing a 1-0 result against Nongumlong SC before Pomlakrai defeated bottom side Lapalang SC 2-1.
Mawryngkneng scored through Baiehbok Sari (54′) to become the first team in the division this season to reach 10 points. After four games they top Group A, though Kharang SC have a game in hand.
Pomlakrai, meanwhile, scored two goals in under 20 minutes via Meshai Tariang (10′) and Macdonald Kurkalang (19′). Dilang Wardkhar (47′) pulled one back for Lapalang early in the second half but they were unable to equalise and suffered a fourth straight defeat.
Pomlakrai are now tied on points with Nongumlong but the latter have head-to-head advantage and a better goal difference.
