Shillong, Mar 7: Nongmensong CC defeated Sputnik Spartan CC by 46 runs in a low scoring Group A match of the Shillong Cricket League Super Division 2024-25 here today.
Batting first after winning the toss, Nongmensong were all out for 135 in 36.2 overs and then bowled out Sputnik Spartan for just 89 in 26 overs.
Kush Agarwal hit 47 from 80 balls for Nongmensong and Pushkar Singh 43 from 63. Dilwar Khan took 4/30 in 8 overs for Sputnik Spartan while his team mate Robert Sangma bagged 3/28 in 9.
It truly was a bowlers’ day, however, as Sputnik Spartan were unable to chase down even this modest target. Robert tried to steer his side to victory with his 44 from 101 balls but didn’t get enough support at the other end.
Jaskirat Singh Sachdeva (pictured left) bowled just the one over and claimed two wickets without conceding a run and he was named Player of the Match.
The next match will take place on Monday with Sputnik Spartan back in action against Langsning CC.
