Shillong, Aug 19: Lumshnong YWSC needed a tiebreaker to get the job done but ultimately prevailed 4-3 in the final of the East Jaintia Hills District Football Association’s Second Division 2025 yesterday against Khliehriat East YWSC.

Regulation time and extra time failed to provide a goal for either side and a penalty shootout was required where Lumshnong won 4-3.

As champions Lumshnong received a cheque of Rs 30,000. Individual awards were also presented at the prize distribution ceremony. The Player of the Final was Lumshnong’s Skemborlang Rupai. Lumshnong also claimed the Best Goalkeeper award and that of Player of the Tournament for Bobbyson Nongtdu and Rida-o Rupai respectively. The Top Scorer gong went to Arlangki Sutnga of Khliehriat West FC.

Numerous dignitaries were present on the occasion of the final, including church elder Grimlang Dkhar, Moses Swer, Khliehriat MLA and cabinet minister Kyrmen Shylla, MDCs Krison Langstang and Violet Lyngdoh, the Daloi of Elaka Lumshnong Manbha Kyndoh and senior members of the EJHDFA.
