Shillong, Sep 7: Meghalaya had a difficult start to the Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2025-26 as they lost to West Bengal 7-0 yesterday.
The Group D game in Nadia, WB, saw the hosts go 5-0 up in the first half itself, with goals from Sulanjana Raul (4′, 11′), Sushmita Lepcha (31′), Mousumi Murmu (37′) and Rimpa Haldar (45’+2).
Sulanjana (55′) added another in the second half for her hat-trick and Mamata Hansda (61′) scored the last of the match.
The Kitbor Kharkongor-coached Meghalaya will play Sikkim tomorrow in their second match. Sikkim had won their opener 2-1 against Railways yesterday.
