Shillong, Apr 7: Langsning CC and Royal CC won their respective Super 8 matches in the 1st Late PA Sangma Memorial T20 Tournament, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, at Polo Ground here today.
Langsning defeated Lok Bhavan by 60 runs in Group A, while the Royals beat Rangkynsai SC by three wickets in Group B.
Lok Bhavan won the toss in their match and chose to field first, with Langsning scoring 139/7 in a reduced 15 overs. Ibitlang Thabah made 34 from 24 balls and Bamanbha Shangpliang 22 from 15. Andrew Ropmay took 3/18 in 3 overs for the bowling side and Asif Khan 2/17 in 2 overs.
In response, Lok Bhavan were well short, finishing on 79/9 in 15 overs despite the efforts of Krishna Chettri (22 from 16 balls) and Ayushman Das (21 from 22). Riboklang Hynniewta impressed with 3/7 in 3 overs, while Enrick Suchiang claimed 3/13 in 2. Riboklang was declared Player of the Match.
The other game saw Royal CC also field first on winning the toss. This time Rangkynsai made 144/8 in a full 20 overs, with Ajay Duhan (50 from 40 deliveries) getting a half-century while Sudhir Sahani finished unbeaten on 45 from 31 balls. Swastic Chettri (3/34 in 4 overs) and Sunil Lachit (2/26 in 4) were the pick of the bowlers.
The Royals didn’t have it easy in the chase and lost seven wickets but came through in 17.2 overs.
Raj Biswa top-scored with 43 not out in 28 balls, while Rajesh Tati made 27 from 20.
Adarsh Joshi was the most successful bowler with 3/28 in 4 overs and Ajay took 2/26 in 3. The latter’s contribution with bat and ball wasn’t enough this time and Royal CC claimed victory and Raj was handed the Player of the Match award.
