Shillong, May 20: The football community of Shillong was left in shock this morning with the news of the untimely death of Fragranson Snaitang, an assistant referee.
A minute’s silence was observed before the start of today’s Meghalaya State League match at the SSA Stadium. Snaitang had been a match official during the ongoing tournament and had officiated in a match only two days ago.
The news of his death was confirmed through a Meghalaya Football Association post on social media.
Snaitang had not only officiated in MFA matches but also Shillong Sports Association and local Reliance Foundation games as well over the years.
