Shillong, Aug 28: Mawpat ensured a perfect end to their Group A campaign in the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2026 by winning their fifth consecutive match here today.
Mawpat defeated Marbisu 5-1 at the SSA Stadium while the other game was an entertaining 3-3 draw between Madan SCC and Pay For Right Academy at the MFA Ground.
Synroplang Sawkmie (25′, 47′, 66′) produced a hat-trick for Mawpat, who have completely dominated the group. Stevenson Cassius Nongphlang (70′) and Reform Pale (84′) were the other scorers for Mawpat, while Menangtei Kharsahnoh (89′) provided a consolation goal for Marbisu.
In the other game, Madan SCC were leading 2-0 in under 10 minutes through Wankmen Lyngdoh (6′) and Daiake Shadap (8′) but PFR were able to reduce the margin in the 31st minute thanks to Pynshngain Mujai.
Aruju L Marshillong (65′) restored Madan’s two-goal lead in the second half before PFR levelled with two quick goals from Peter Lamare (75′) and Banjiedlang Khongsit (80′).
There was no movement in the standings, with Mawpat in first, Madan second, Marbisu third and PFR fourth. Mawpat and Madan will be in the quarterfinals, while Marbisu will have to wait and see whether they finish among the two best third-placed teams that will also progress to the quarters. Although they have a good number of points, their -8 goal difference (brought about by a 6-0 loss to Madan and today’s result) may prove costly.
