Shillong, Oct 27: Diengshynrum SC secured first place in the East Jaintia Hills District Football Association’s Super Division 2026 by beating Sutnga SSCC 3-2 in their last round robin match in Khliehriat today.

The final points table

Dienshynrum were in control for most of the match thanks to goals by Rumi Lyngdoh (26′, 65′) and Shining Marbaniang (48′), though things threatened to get away from them with late strikes by Sutnga’s Alwinson Bareh (81’P) and Ker Syrti (88′).

However, Diengshynrum held on to victory, which ensured that they would finish on top of the league stage no matter happened in the second game.

So it was that seventh-placed Thangskai Tiger SC defeated second-placed Byndihati CSC 2-1. Thangskai went ahead through a 16th minute own goal before Byndihati equalised in the 41st via Philemon Dkhar. Bobbyson Nongtdu then provided the winner in the 83rd minute.

The top four teams – Diengshynrum, Byndihati, Chiehruphi SYWSC and Shilliang Umshong SC will progress to the knockout stage. The Tigers and Rymbai Shkenshynriah (the 2025 champions) will be relegated to next year’s First Division.
