Shillong, Oct 18: Meghalaya’s young basketballers returned home on Tuesday after taking part in the 44th Sub Junior National Basketball Championship, which was held in Rajasthan from 8-14 October.
The state’s boys had been grouped in Pool E with Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Bihar and Jammu & Kashmir.
Meghalaya started well by defeating J&K and Uttarakhand, but couldn’t make the quarterfinal stage after losing to the other two states.
In a press release issued today, Meghalaya Basketball Association joint secretary Donald Wahlang congratulated the sub-juniors for their performance and fighting spirit, adding, “I hope that the exposure and experience gained from this championship will make them work harder and become future stars of the sport.”
He also expressed gratitude for the team’s coach and assistant coach.
