Shillong, Nov 29: An intense first SPL semifinal had it all, with Rangdajied United (blue) coming from 2 goals to 1 down to defeat Langsning (red) and go directly to the final, which will be held next month.
Nnamdi Stephan Harry netted the first goal of the match in the 43rd minute, but Langsning came back in the second half with a brace from Donlad Diengdoh (47′, 65′), the first of which came about after RUFC’s goalie and defenders collided, allowing a touch from the No. 13 to send the ball in, while the second was a neat tap-in off a Milancy Khongstia cross.
Minutes from victory, however, James Moga appeared to get the slightest of touches on the ball in front of the goalmouth and Langsning conceded to make it 2-2.
Rangdajied then sealed a stunning comeback with a Reson Malngiang header (98′) and another by Moga (110′).
The game was marred, however, after a fight broke out between 2 opposing players soon joined by another. All 3 were shown red cards. Langsning, however, still have a chance of making it to the final as they will take on the winner of Monday’s elimination match between Shillong Lajong and Malki.
