Shillong, Dec 9: After two home wins, Shillong Lajong (white) were spanked 5-1 by East Bengal (red & black) in the former’s first away match of the I-League season in Kolkata today.

This was SLFC’s worst margin of defeat in the competition since 9th February 2016 when they lost 4-0 away to the same opponents.

Today Mahmoud Al Amna (14′), Eduardo Ferreira (19′), Laldanmawia Ralte (52′, 65′) and Katsumi Yusa (79′ penalty) scored for the hosts.

Samuel Lalmuanpuia (87′) then put in a beautiful free-kick for Lajong to make the scoreline a tad less one-sided. This goal made Lalmuanpuia the 10th Lajong player to score at least five goals in the I-League.

The Shillong club’s next match is in Kolkata against Mohun Bagan on 14th December.
