Shillong, Aug 16: Shooters from Meghalaya won 15 medals in the 6th North East Zone Shooting Championship in Aizawl recently.
Six of these were gold, five were silver and four bronze.
The tournament was held over a period of eight days from from 6th to 13th August, the Shooting Association of Meghalaya (SAM) said in a press release today.
The championship saw the participation of 225 shooters from the North East over 52 matches, of which 34 were conducted according to national rules and 18 in an International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) rules.
SAM shooters took part in nine national and four ISSF matches.
Assam sent the biggest contingent of shooters (77) and won the most medals (36). Manipur (47 shooters) won 35 medals, while hosts Mizoram sent 64 shooters and won 18 medals. Meghalaya sent 24 shooters. The medal breakdown of the other states was not revealed by SAM.
