Shillong, Jun 5: Ri-Bhoi became the first district to qualify for the semifinal stage of the State-Level Chief Minister’s U-23 Football Tournament with their second victory in Group D at the JN Stadium here today.
Ri-Bhoi and South West Garo Hills are the only two teams in Group D. Today Ri-Bhoi won 8-0 to follow up on their 9-0 win yesterday. Alicestar Thangkhiew scored his second straight hat-trick, while his team mate Solinstar Syngkli put four past South West Garo Hills.
In the girls’ division South Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills are the only teams in Group D. Today South Garo Hills won 3-2. Yesterday saw West Khasi Hills win 1-0, so TSR is unsure who will go to the semis, though the organisers would’ve worked it out.

(Group A) East Jaintia Hills 1 – 0 West Garo Hills
(Group B) East Garo Hills 3 – 2 South Garo Hills
(Group C) North Garo Hills 0 – 4 West Jaintia Hills
