Shillong, Jun 25: Mawkhar and defending champions Langsning enjoyed victories in their respective matches of the U-18 Shillong Premier League here today.
At Third Ground Mawkhar celebrated a comprehensive 6-0 result over Nongkrem, with Densil Kongwang recording the fifth hat-trick of the season.
Scoring in the 52nd, 84th and 86th minutes, Kongwang is now the season’s top scorer with seven goals.
Aenam Jyrwa (36’) and Banehskhem Khongsdam (44’) also scored a goal each and they have now gotten on the scoresheet in each of their team’s last three games. Fairlystar Suting, meanwhile, bagged his first goal of the season in the 50th minute for Mawkhar.
Meanwhile, at the JN Stadium, Langsning were 3-1 winners over Marbisu.
Ryngkat Ryngksai scored in the 13th minute for the defending champions, but Bobidonlang Lyngkhoi equalised for Marbisu in the 29th. From keeping clean sheets in each of their first four matches, Langsning have now conceded a goal in each of their next four, with all the goals coming against them in the first half.
The second half saw Ryngksai score again in the 64th and that makes him the team’s top scorer with six goals. Damanbha Kharthangmaw then added a late goal for Langsning in the 87th minute to give them a 3-1 result.
Both Langsning and Mawkhar now have 19 points at the top of the table.
Tomorrow at Third Ground Nangkiew Irat are scheduled to face bottom side Lawsohtun, while over at the JN Stadium Ryntih are scheduled to take on Shillong Lajong. Both games will kick off at 3:45PM.
