Shillong, Jul 19: Nongkrem won their opening match of the First Division 2-1 over Marbisu at the JN Stadium here today.
This was Marbisu’s second game and second defeat.
M Kharbuli took a long-range shot that curled and dipped over the Marbisu goalkeeper for the first goal in the 35th minute but Marbisu equalised soon after when W Nongsteng headed in a free-kick in the 38th.
Fifty minutes later and deep into the second half K Warshong found a way to put Nongkrem back into the lead and 2-1 was how it ended.
Tomorrow, Meghalaya Police are scheduled to face Smit at 3:45PM. Both teams had won their respective opening fixture.
