Shillong, Feb 9: Chiruplang advanced to the semifinals of the Mawten Invitation Football Tournament by beating Mawkohphet 5-3 on penalties after full time ended 2-2.
Mawkohphet took the lead in the 12th minute vie Pynbhaboklang Marngar, but this was cancelled out 10 minutes later by Primrose Lamat’s equaliser for Chiruplang after a brilliant cross by eventual man-of-the-match Stephanson Pale.
Marngar again put Mawkohphet into the lead in the 24th minute with a header off a corner kick, but Preciousland Kharbhih equalised just before half time.
The score remained 2-2 in the second half and Chiruplang came through in the tiebreaker. They will face Six United in the semis.
