Shillong, Jun 7: Kerala Blasters have parted ways with Shaiborlang Kharpan, the Indian Super League club announced yesterday evening.

In a social media post, the Kerala side said goodbye to Kharpan, Rohit Kumar and Ritwik Das. “We’ll surely be seeing a lot more of these lads in the coming years,” the Blasters said while wishing them all the best.

Kharpan has been with the Blasters since 2018 and has played for them in the local Kerala league and national Second Division League. The closest the 25-year-old has so far come to playing in the ISL was a place on the bench in January 2020, but he was not called on by then coach Eelco Schattorie.

He was looked at by the Blasters in pre-season training last year but didn’t make the cut and was then loaned to Sudeva for the I-League. With the Delhi club the forward scored two goals in 11 appearances. Sudeva managed to finish eighth in their debut season in the main round and then second out of the five teams in the relegation group.

After a pretty decent season in the second tier of Indian football, he should be able to find a new club somewhere in the country.
