Shillong, Aug 31: Meghalaya’s kickboxers won six medals at the WAKO India Seniors & Masters National Kickboxing Championship 2021 in Goa.
Hame Shaniah Suiam bagged two of those medals, including the only gold and silver for the state, which was represented by the Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association. The championship ran from 26th to 29th August.
This event was also the first stage of selection for the Indian team that will take part in the 6th Asian Indoor Martial Arts & Games Bangkok Chonburi to be held from 10th to 20th March 2022 as well as for the World Kickboxing Championship in October at Italy.
Meghalaya medallists:
1. Gold – Hame Shaniah Suiam (Senior Men Point Fighting -57kg)
2. Silver – Hame Shaniah Suiam (Senior Men Point Fighting -63kg)
3. Bronze – Nisanshwa Lyngdoh (Senior Women K1 -48kg)
4. Bronze – Bantei Sungoh (Senior Men Low Kick -60kg)
5. Bronze – Arthur Cornelli Khongioh (Senior Men K1 -75kg)
6. Bronze – Pynnehbor Mylliemngap (Senior Men Musical Form Hard Style)
