Shillong, Sep 29: After a hard fought final round, Shillong golfer Gaurav Bajaj (pictured left) brought laurels to Meghalaya emerged victorious in the mid-amateur category at the Golftrade Amateur Open at Tollygunge Golf Course in Kolkata today.

The two-day event had Bajaj leading at the end of the first round and his final round 48 was enough to give him a stroke cushion over the runner-up in the category, Sanjeev Kumar, who shot a round of 47 today.

The prizes were handed out by Indrajit Bhalotia, former national champion and a renowned golf professional.

As it was feared, the golf course was hit by incessant rainfall since the early morning, which posed a lot of challenges for the golfers. Keeping in the mind the safety of the players as well as the famed course, the tee offs were delayed by two hours and the organisers took the call to reduce the final round to nine holes.
