Shillong, Nov 6: Niaw Wasa held I-League side TRAU to a 2-2 draw in Group C of the first ever Futsal Club Championship in New Delhi today.
All four goals were scored in the second half.
The Jowai side started with Riburom Jat, Samson Nongrum, Niponghi Sumer, Civility Khongmalai and Dathrangki-o Sutong.
Four minutes into the second half, Milan Singh opened the scoring for TRAU as he smashed one into the back of the net. However, an immediate reply came from the team from Meghalaya; they earned a penalty as Joysana Singh committed a foul inside the area and it was dispatched by Khongmalai.
Milan scored again in the 30th minute to restore TRAU’s lead, but Khongmalai came up with another equaliser with a long-range shot that took a couple of deflections before ending in the back of the net.
Both teams tried to grab all three points in the dying minutes of the game but had to settle for one each. Niaw Wasa will take on Telongjem FC in their next match on Monday.
