Shillong, Nov 8: Niaw Wasa (pictured in grey) kept their hopes of a semifinal in the Futsal Club Championship alive with a 8-2 victory over Telongjem of Nagaland in Group C in New Delhi today.

The Jowai team were trailing twice in the first half but fought back to lead 4-2 at the break, with goals from Niponghi Sumer, Wadajied Ryngkhlem and a brace by Primrose Lamat.

Niaw Wasa then went from strength to strength in the second half, not letting a single goal get by. Lamat was denied a hat-trick by the upright but found his way through again later on.

The other goal scorers in the second half were Riburom Jat via a corner and super substitute Samson Nongrum who bagged the last two goals.

Niaw Wasa now have four points and will keep an eye on the next match in the group later today. Their final league stage match will be against Delhi FC on Wednesday.
