Shillong, Nov 17: Mawtawar became the first team from Group A to secure a place in the quarterfinal stage of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division by defeating Lawmali Pyllun 3-0 at Polo Ground here today.
The other game of the day saw Lumparing and Nongkseh play a 0-0.
Today’s match was Mawtawar’s last of the group stage and they finished with eight points after two wins and two draws.
Mawtawar won today thanks to goals from Maxstar Mukhim (50’) and Jerry Khongsit (55’, 59’), all in the space of 10 minutes.
Both Nongrah (who weren’t in action today) and Nongkseh have five points. These two sides will meet in the final round next week to decide which one will join Mawtawar in the quarters.
