Shillong, Dec 20: Fresh from success in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20) and Vijay Hazare Trophy (one day), Meghalaya will hold a preparatory camp for the first-class Ranji Trophy in Puducherry from Wednesday.
The state’s 22-member squad was announced by the Meghalaya Cricket Association’s Honorary Secretary Gideon Kharkongor today.
Meghalaya had finished second in the Plate Group of both the T20 and one day tournaments and will aim to replicate some of that impressive form in the longest format of domestic cricket.
The Ranji squad is almost identical to the other two that have preceded it and will be led by guest professionals Punit Bisht (captain), Chirag Khurana and Ravi Teja. Among the local talent, Kishan Lyngdoh will hope to find some of that T20 form and transfer and adapt it for the four-day game, while Dippu Sangma, Akash Kumar Chaudhary, Md Nafees Siddique, Aryan Bora and Hima Phukan will look to carry Meghalaya with the ball.
The Ranji Trophy is scheduled to begin on 5th January, with the Plate Group playing its matches in Chennai. The team will depart Meghalaya for the camp in Puducherry on Tuesday.
