Shillong, Apr 13: Meghalaya put up a stiff fight on the second day of their Col CK Nayudu Trophy plate group match against Arunachal Pradesh today, with a five-wicket haul by Agreas Chamcham Sangma (pictured centre) and fifties for Ibitlang Thabah (right) and Abhishek Gupta (left).
Arunachal resumed the day in Cuttack on 325/6 and added 59 more runs before being bowled out for 384.
Agreas added to the two scalps he claimed yesterday to finish with 5/68, while Abhishek Kumar (1/55) took the other wicket to fall.
With a big total behind them, Arunachal knocked over a Meghalaya batter early on but they encountered stiff resistance from Thabah (71) and Gupta (82 not out).
The pair batted patiently and with great resolve and determination to put on 154 together for the second wicket until Thabah was run out.
Swastic Chettri (15 not out) then stepped in and held out with Gupta until stumps, by when Meghalaya had posted 197/2, still some 187 runs behind Arunachal’s first innings total.
