Shillong, Jun 7: Meghalaya defeated Karnataka 1-0 in Group B of the the football event of the Khelo India Youth Games today.

With two wins from two games Meghalaya have booked their place in the semifinals of the event.

The youngsters had to battle hard against their opponents as well as temperatures of 42 degrees Celsius but came through in the end thanks to a spirited performance.

Fashioning Syngkli scored his second goal of the tournament, this time through a penalty kick in the 85th minute.

Meghalaya will next take on West Bengal on Thursday at 9AM in their last group match.

Meghalaya had defeated hosts Haryana 1-0 in the opening game on Sunday. The top two sides from each group will progress to the semifinals.
